It was notable for its unique magazine system, which allowed rounds to be loaded individually through a side door without opening the bolt. Chambered in .30-40 Krag, it saw use during the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War. The Krag was praised for its smooth bolt action but criticized for its relatively low rate of fire and weaker cartridge compared to the Mauser rifles used by Spanish forces. Around 500,000 units were produced before being replaced by the Springfield M1903. Despite its short service life, the Krag is remembered for its role in a pivotal era of American military history.Related Weapons: M89 Danish Krag-Jorgensen M1894 Norwegian Krag-Jorgensen Comments No comments yet.
