Introduced in the 1960s, the Rasheed was designed to be a lighter, more compact version of the Hakim, suitable for closer engagements and more practical for infantry use. The rifle retained the direct gas impingement system of the Hakim but featured a shorter barrel and a detachable 10-round magazine. Production of the Rasheed was limited, with only around 8,000 units produced before it was replaced by the AK-47. The Rasheed saw limited combat service, primarily with Egyptian forces during regional conflicts in the Middle East.
