The M1894 Norwegian Krag-Jorgensen rifle was a bolt-action firearm designed by Ole Herman Johannes Krag and Erik Jorgensen, building upon the earlier Danish M89 model. It featured a distinctive side-loading magazine, which allowed for quick reloading and the ability to top off the magazine while the rifle was in use. The M1894 was chambered in the 6.5x55mm cartridge, offering excellent accuracy, low recoil, and sufficient stopping power, making it a well-balanced weapon for infantry use. Its smooth bolt action and robust construction contributed to its widespread acclaim among soldiers and engineers.

Production of the M1894 began at the Kongsberg Arms Factory in Norway and continued for several decades, with over 200,000 units produced. The rifle was manufactured in various configurations, including full-length infantry rifles, carbines for cavalry, and specialized versions for sharpshooters. The M1894 remained the standard service rifle of the Norwegian military until the mid-20th century, showcasing its durability and adaptability across changing battlefield conditions.

The M1894 Krag-Jorgensen saw extensive service during Norway's involvement in World War II, where it was used by both Norwegian forces and resistance fighters. Its reputation as a reliable and accurate rifle solidified its legacy, and it became a sought-after collectible in the post-war era. Today, the M1894 is celebrated for its innovative design and historical significance, representing a milestone in military small arms development.
