The Fiat-Revelli Modello 1935 was an Italian heavy machine gun developed as an updated version of the earlier Fiat-Revelli Modello 1914. Designed to address issues with the original model, the Modello 1935 introduced several improvements, including a simplified feed mechanism and a change from water to air cooling, which reduced the weapon's weight and logistical complexity. Chambered for the 8x59mm RB Breda cartridge, it was intended to standardize Italian machine gun calibers and improve overall firepower.

Despite the improvements, the Modello 1935 still suffered from reliability issues, particularly with its feed system and tendency to jam under adverse conditions. Production began in the mid-1930s, and the weapon saw widespread service with the Italian armed forces during World War II. However, its performance often lagged behind that of contemporaneous heavy machine guns like the German MG34 and American M1919 Browning. Approximately 20,000 units were manufactured, and they were used extensively in various theaters, from North Africa to the Eastern Front.

The Fiat-Revelli Modello 1935 remains a controversial weapon in military history, as its limitations often frustrated Italian troops who relied on it in combat. While it demonstrated a step forward in Italian small arms design, its shortcomings highlighted the challenges faced by Italy's military-industrial complex during the interwar and wartime periods. Today, the Modello 1935 is remembered as an emblematic example of the mixed success of Italian weaponry during World War II, often finding its place in collections and museums as a historical artifact.
