The 7.7 cm Feldkanone 16 (FK 16) was a field gun developed by Germany during World War I as an improvement over the earlier 7.7 cm FK 96 n.A. Designed by Krupp, it featured a longer barrel for increased range and a modernized recoil system that enhanced accuracy and firing stability. The gun was mounted on a two-wheeled, box-trail carriage and used a hydro-pneumatic recoil mechanism, allowing for faster targeting and improved rate of fire. It fired fixed ammunition with a 7.7 cm caliber shell, providing effective fire support for German infantry units.

Production of the FK 16 began in 1916 to address the shortcomings of older field guns in the rapidly evolving trench warfare environment. The gun was manufactured in large numbers by German arsenals, and it became a standard artillery piece for German divisions by the later years of World War I. Following the war, many FK 16s were either scrapped or distributed to other nations as war reparations. Some were later converted by the Wehrmacht into the 7.5 cm FK 16 n.A. during the interwar period by reboring the barrels to 75 mm to standardize with other artillery calibers.

The FK 16 gained notoriety for its versatility and effectiveness in the shifting battlefield conditions of World War I. It was praised for its range, which exceeded that of earlier German field guns, and its adaptability to different types of terrain. Although largely replaced by more advanced artillery by World War II, some captured and modified FK 16s continued to see use in secondary roles. Today, surviving examples can be found in museums and historical collections, offering insight into the evolution of early 20th-century artillery design.
