The Hakim rifle is an Egyptian semi-automatic rifle produced under license from Sweden, based on the Swedish AG-42 Ljungman design. Chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser, the Hakim was manufactured in the 1950s by Egypt's state-run Factory 54. The rifle operated using a direct gas impingement system, similar to the Ljungman, and was praised for its accuracy and effective range. However, it was also known for its heavy weight and substantial recoil, which made it difficult for some soldiers to handle. Around 70,000 Hakim rifles were produced, and it saw service with the Egyptian military during the 1950s and 1960s, particularly during the Suez Crisis and the Six-Day War. Despite being phased out in favor of more modern automatic rifles, the Hakim remains popular among collectors due to its unique design and historical significance.
