Rasheed Carbine
| |||||||||||||
The Rasheed Carbine is an Egyptian semi-automatic rifle derived from the Hakim, but chambered in 7.62x39mm, the same cartridge used by the Soviet AK-47. Introduced in the 1960s, the Rasheed was designed to be a lighter, more compact version of the Hakim, suitable for closer engagements and more practical for infantry use. The rifle retained the direct gas impingement system of the Hakim but featured a shorter barrel and a detachable 10-round magazine. Production of the Rasheed was limited, with only around 8,000 units produced before it was replaced by the AK-47. The Rasheed saw limited combat service, primarily with Egyptian forces during regional conflicts in the Middle East. Its rarity and connection to the Egyptian arms industry have made it a collectible item among firearms enthusiasts.
